NFL Betting – Falcons Look To Silence Lions For Second Consecutive Sunday

After weeks of pulling out improbable sports betting victories in games against teams considered to be among the top contenders in the NFC, the bubble finally burst for the Detroit Lions in a 25-19 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Unlike in the previous couple of wins when the Lions actually trailed in the fourth quarter, Matt Stafford and company actually led San Francisco with the game clock ticking down before the 49ers came back and won it in the final minutes. Following the game head coach Jim Schwartz became animated after receiving a shot to the back and a few unkind words from Jim Harbaugh, and from there the rest is history. But with a week seven matchup against the Atlanta Falcons at home this week, some have to be wondering if the clock has struck midnight for one of this year’s Cinderlla NFL teams.

Atlanta Falcons @ Detroit Lions (-3.5)

Sunday, 1:00 PM ET

The Lions are fortunate to get Atlanta at home and then the Denver Broncos on the road before their bye week, but the Falcons should give them a strong test inside the confines of Ford Field. If the 49ers proved anything last week it is that Detroit is vulnerable through the air on defense, and that should suit Matt Ryan and company just fine. Atlanta has more weapons than San Francisco did on that pay head side of the ball, and their defense is coming off of an impressive road performance in a win over the Carolina Panthers. This game should go down to the wire, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if the Falcons provide the upset against a Lions’ team that will now experience what it is like on the other side as the hunted rather than the hunter.

NFL Betting Pick: Atlanta Falcons + 3.5
